Hemsby Primary is a thriving school offering your child an excellent start.  The governors work closely with the headteacher and the dedicated staff who are committed to ensuring each pupil is given the opportunity to fulfil their potential, make them confident, sensitive to others, interested in the world around them and prepared for the challenges ahead.

Our governing body is a group of like-minded people whose aim is to provide an excellent school and a safe, happy and caring environment in which to learn.  The team of governors are here to make sure that the school’s performance is evaluated and continuously improves, to ensure legal obligations are met and that the school keeps abreast of whatever challenges come along.  Essentially, we care about the school and want it to succeed.

We try to attend as many school events as possible, so do look out for us and have a chat.

Kathryn Hewitt – Chair

Being a former pupil of Hemsby Primary School, I’ve been passionate and proud of our village school for as long as I can remember. After graduating from University with a BSc (Hons) Psychology degree, I have worked in the Probation Service for over 17 years. Now my own children are attending Hemsby Primary School and beginning their own educational journey. I became a Governor in February 2019 and have responsibilities for Safeguarding as well as becoming the Chair in 2021.

I pride myself in being approachable and open in my Governor role and love being involved with the ongoing Hemsby Primary School journey. If you need anything, or if I can help, just ask!

Paul Gomulak – Vice Chair

My name is Paul Gomulak and I have been a parent governor at Hemsby Primary School since 2019. I have been recently elected as vice chair of governors and it is such an honour.

I have really enjoyed my time as a governor working within the team to ensure the school is following its strategic plan and ensuring the targets and aspirations of the school are upheld. It is a demanding but enjoyable job and I have learnt so much being involved in our school.

I am proud to be a small part of Hemsby Primary School as I feel the village and its community are so important and something special we have and I feel the school should be at the centre of that community.

Steven Beales

I have been a Governor at Hemsby Primary since 2018. I joined because I liked the idea of helping my local school to be one that provided an outstanding education to the children in our local community, and surrounding area. I am currently the Governor for SEN.

James Bensly

I was born at Northgate Hospital in Great Yarmouth and attended Caister First, middle and High School. My nan (Mrs Adkins) was the secretary at our wonderful school for many years. I’m heavily involved with Hemsby’s great tourism industry which allows me to explore different employment opportunities in the winter months. I love our great school, and nothing is more positive than hearing the children’s laughter and excitement at break time throughout the village during term time.

It’s a pleasure and privilege to be a governor at our exciting school, I will work hard to help support the wonderful staff and team to do all they can with the tools provided for your children’s educational needs.

We are all always learning, and this school is a wonderful example of that. Always moving forward, Hemsby Primary…

Jakob Roberts

My name is Jakob Roberts and I have been a school Governor since September 2021. I live in the village and my daughter attends the school.

I joined to support my local school and influence the community I live in. I bring with me experience as a Performance and Efficiency Manager within the NHS; I currently work in the Children and Young People’s Mental Health commissioning team.

I have responsibility for the Nursery and Data/Performance areas of the school.
